5-alpha hydroxy laxogenin is a plant-derived polyhydroxylated derivative of 5a-cholestane, similar to anabolic steroids in mammals or insect ecdysteroids. 5-alpha-hydroxy-laxogenin is derived from a synthetic version of laxogenin. Laxogenin itself belongs to a family of compounds that are more commonly referred to as brassinosteroids. Furthermore, laxogenin has been found in plants and drives growth throughout the plant itself.

In a study conducted by Esposito et. Al, rodents were given a similar compound, 28-Homobrassinolide (HB) to see what effects it would have on lean body mass. Rodents were given either 20 mg or 60 mg of HB over a 24 day period. The study concluded that the 20 mg group had a 7% increase in lean muscle and a 3.9% reduction in body fat while the 60 mg group had a 14.2% increase in lean muscle and a 4.9% reduction in body fat. These results were found through the use of a DEXA scan (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3177571/).

Additionally, HB use was also associated with an increase in strength without additional training, as the rats exhibited a 6.7 percent increase in grip strength of the lower extremities.

Brassinosteroids are considered a phytohormone that plays a role in plant growth and development. Additionally, brassinosteroids are incredibly similar to various animal hormones in the way that they affect various aspects of growth and synthesization such as cell elongation, cell division, immunity, and reproduction (https://bmcbiol.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12915-016-0340-8).

Effects of 5-Alpha Hydroxy Laxogenin on Protein Synthesis

While research on 5-alpha hydroxy laxogenin is limited, reported effects state that the compound works by increasing the rate of protein synthesis while simultaneously decreasing the rate at which protein breaks down. More research is needed in this area to determine the actual impact of the compound on plants and mammals.

Effects of 5-Alpha Hydroxy Laxogenin on Hormones

5-alpha hydroxy laxogenin is unique due to the fact that it does not lead to any changes throughout the endocrine system like various other selective androgen receptor modulators. In the aforementioned study conducted by Esposito et. Al, it was found that the brassinosteroid showed no direct binding to the androgen receptor in vitro.

Many of our compounds are available in powdered, poly-cell, and standard polyethylene glycol formulations.  We employ an amphiphilic copolymer to form polymeric micelles that enhance the bioavailability of select SARMs.

Furthermore, our nano-emulsification process ensures minimum polymeric micelle size and variance. Most importantly, our Poly-Cell Formula TM is optimized for sublingual absorption with a minimal taste profile. This stands in contrast to PEG, which is often intolerable for sublingual delivery due to its very unpleasant taste, leading to poor compliance among research participants.

The primary concern for SARM researchers today is product purity.  Umbrella Labs insures and guarantees its product purity by incorporating a process of Independent testing using Mass Spectrometry and Ultraviolet Radiation. Certificates of our product Independent tests are posted with our product descriptions and on our certificate page.
